Hike around the heritage of the bilberry and the village of Burzet in Ardèche

Starting from the village of Burzet, hike to the heights among wild blueberries and hundred-year-old chestnut trees. Want more? Take the Way of the Cross to complete the walk.


This hike around Burzet takes you to discover magnificent panoramas of the Upper Ardèche Valley. It also crosses beautiful chestnut groves and blueberry fields. You are truly in the heart of the Ardèche, in the wild, vibrant, and mysterious Bourges Valley. This pleasant hike, which starts in the village of Burzet, guides you to the heights. At the end of the route, you will have the opportunity to take the Way of the Cross to complete this walk.

① Start at the “INFO RANDO” panel in the casino square. Take Rue de Lalevade, located in front of the info rando panel, just before the bridge over the Bourges.

Pole At the “Le Chateau” pole, follow the direction to Péreyres for 7.2 km via Les Sausses. After 500 meters, leave the track to follow the path that climbs to the right, crossing chestnut groves and blueberry fields.

Pole At the “Les Sausses” pole, take the direction of Burzet for 5.7 km via Méjassole. Continue for 60 meters, then take the descending road.

④ At the junction with the departmental road, turn left and continue for 300 meters.

⑤ Leave the road to take the small staircase on the right, which leads you to the bridge below.

⑥ After the bridge, turn left. After passing the houses of the Moulin d’Aubert, the path follows a canal and crosses the hamlet of Sarralier. The path joins a paved track; follow it to the intersection with RD289.

⑦ Cross the road; the path climbs to the left of the water reservoir. Pole At the “Méjassole” pole, follow the direction of Burzet for 1.2 km via La Croisette.

Pole At the “La Croisette” pole, follow the direction of Burzet for 0.5 km to return to your starting point.

Road access and parking

From Aubenas, take the N102 to Pont de Labeaume. At the exit of the village, turn right onto D536 towards Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, then follow D215 towards Saint Pierre de Colombier.

From Thueyts, take the N102 towards Aubenas. Before entering Pont de Labeaume, turn towards Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, then follow D215 towards Saint-Pierre-de-Colombier.
