Infomaniak offsets the CO2 emissions generated by the company by 200%, including, for example, the manufacturing and disposal (recycling) of servers, electricity production (even from renewable sources), employee transportation to their workplace, and flights necessary for professional purposes. Infomaniak has been certified by the organization MyClimate for over 10 years. Founded in 2002 at EPFZ, this Swiss non-profit foundation offers comprehensive services related to climate protection. As a green host, Infomaniak currently offsets its carbon footprint through a CO2 storage project within a forest reserve in the Swiss canton of Jura (VallĂ©e de Soulce, Undervilier). This project involves refraining from using wood from this reserve. The resulting wood biomass stores CO2, thereby reducing its concentration in the air. Moreover, by not using wood, it contributes to creating habitat for endangered species. Since 2015, the company has been ISO 50’001 certified (energy management). Infomaniak won the Negawatt Trophy in 2016, awarded by SIG, for a 20% reduction in its electricity consumption over a year. The electrical energy used by the company to power its data processing centers and offices is composed as follows:
– 60% from hydroelectric sources (certified ‘TUV SUD EE01’)
– 40% from renewable sources (certified ‘Naturemade Star’)
