Swimming
Whether you’re a resident, a vacationer, a spa-goer… discover our top spots for swimming!
Enjoy the beautiful Ardèche weather in Sources & Volcans by discovering our river and pool swimming spots. All the beaches listed below are monitored for water quality, allowing you to swim with peace of mind! You can also find lifeguarded beaches during the season.
Swimming in Thueyts
Thueyts & its Devil’s Bridge
Not far from the beginning of the Ardèche River, the Devil’s Bridge is an unbeatable natural and cultural site during your stay! Enjoy a refreshing swim in a volcanic landscape.
A small parking area is located 100m from the bridge, but it has limited spaces. We recommend parking in the picturesque village of Thueyts and walking down the path, which takes about fifteen minutes as you pass under the road bridge. Along this small cobblestone path, you’ll descend while carefully following the basaltic flow until you reach the Devil’s Bridge.
Swimming in Jaujac
Jaujac & its Turbine Beach
A 5-minute walk from the center of the picturesque village of Jaujac, a wild site awaits you at the foot of the basaltic flows, offering a chance to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Lignon.
This beach is regularly subject to water quality analysis (monitored by the EPTB of the Ardèche watershed). It’s recommended to reach the beach on foot, and you can easily find parking in the village.
Swimming in Lalevade d’Ardèche
Lalevade & its “Clape” beach
In the center of Lalevade, at the end of a large wooded park, what a pleasure to discover this large sandy beach on the banks of the Ardèche. Relaxation for adults, sandcastles for the little ones. Happiness for everyone! Supervised site in July-August.

Swimming in La Souche
La Souche & its lake
In the extension of Jean-Moulin Square in the heart of the village, several water holes allow for swimming. During the summer, a water reservoir is used to create a pleasant, shaded water area, which is set up every year with water from the Lignon River. On-site, you can enjoy swimming in a natural setting, and it is supervised in July and August, ensuring a peaceful experience!

The right actions for watercourses
Many animal and plant species inhabit our watercourses in the Geopark of the Monts d’Ardèche.
To ensure the maintenance of water quality and the sustainability of these species, it’s important to coexist harmoniously:
– Avoid building stone dams in the water, as they can have serious consequences for the aquatic fauna by disrupting oxygen levels.
– Keep the natural river environment clean by not leaving any waste in the water or on the beaches.
– Observe animals without capturing them, as all species are valuable to the biodiversity of our rivers.
