Natural curiosity, water source and natural heritage in Jaujac in Ardèche

At the bottom of Jaujac's volcano, the Peschier mineral spring was formerly very popular. You can still enjoy its clear, semi-sparkling, ferruginous water on the spot.

Did you know that? The source of the Peschier is part of the two sources are present on the Domaine de Rochemure, seat of the Geopark of the Monts d’Ardèche with the source Prospère. A bottling plant project for the exploitation of spring water initiated in the middle of the 20th century never succeeded despite the construction of a building. However, you can still access the place by the path to the volcano “la Coupe” of Jaujac and taste this ferruginous water (strong in iron). Well known to the locals, some even report that it tastes like a «coin» so we will let you make an opinion during your tasting! Be aware, however, that if you take some in a bottle, it will keep only a few hours.

The source of Peschier, source of conviviality!

Did you know? In front of the spring of Peschier is the water reserve of the town of Jaujac. The fence was installed to secure the sources of drinking water by protecting them from humans but also animals. You will find a beautiful free picnic area on the edge of the chestnut forest, which is also a local meeting point. Every year, on August 16, the big picnic of Peschier takes place at noon, where inhabitants (the Jaujacquois) and visitors are welcome!
