Castle, cultural heritage and built in Jaujac

Opening : From 01/07 to 18/09, daily.

The castle of Rochemure, located between the mouth of the volcano and the village of jaujac, is isolated in an agricultural and natural environment not built: wood, springs, wetlands of great ecological interest. This is the Maison du Géoparc des Monts d'Ardèche.

The castle of Rochemure is of a very romantic spirit with its aerial corbels. It is the seat of the Geopark of the Monts d’Ardèche. The idea of creating the park dates back to 1992, at the initiative of castanéiculteurs (chestnut producers) anxious to protect and enhance their production. The preservation of natural heritage is the basis of its sustainable development program: the park must preserve and develop the wealth common to its territory, territory with strong characteristics (landscapes, rural know-how, religious history, ancient volcanism, moulinages, etc.)
