L'Amoureux extravagant and Le Vieillard amoureux ou l'heureuse feinte, 2 comedies in 1 act, mirror the cruelty of social norms on the individual, whether it be that of the social group on Philon in L'Amoureux, or that of the Old Man on Isabelle.

Written in 1657 and 1664 respectively, L'Amoureux extravagant and Le Vieillard amoureux ou l'heureuse feinte are two dramatic works by Françoise Pascal.
With no regard for the needs and aspirations of his only daughter, a miserly baron is duped in his search for a young wife: the beautiful woman he favours turns out to be a young man in drag, none other than Cléandre, his daughter's lover.
