Hike from the picturesque village of Meyras to Hautsegur castle

This looping route starts in the heart of the characterful village of Meyras and takes in its rich medieval heritage.

Travel back in time, from the medieval streets of Meyras to the discovery of one of its castles: the Château d’Hautsegur, a vestige of the Renaissance. This loop starting from the heart of the character village of Meyras will allow you to discover its rich medieval heritage.

Start from the “INFO RANDO” board, located under the gazebo in the main square of Meyras.

① Reach the Town Hall and then cross the village via the Rue Grande on your right.

② Continue on the D26 to the left for 300m.

③ At the intersection, take the path that crosses the chestnut grove on the left to reach the road.

④ You arrive at the 4 paths, follow the indication 🚩 “Meyras, 1.7km”. Follow the road from where you can see different panoramas of the Ardèche valley and the thermal site of Neyrac-les-Bains.

⑤ Follow the sign 🚩 “Neyrac-les-Bains, 2km”. Descend the calade and join the road. Continue down to the next post.

⑥ At the 🚩 “La Coste” signpost, take the direction of Meyras 2.2 km following the Domitius way (old Roman road).

⑦ At the intersection turn left to reach the town center.

⑧ At the tennis roundabout go straight, pass the cemetery then the church. Walk through the medieval streets to return to the village square.

Road access and parking

From Aubenas, take the N102 towards Thueyts, then the D26 towards Meyras. From the east or north, take the N102 after Neyrac-les-Bains and turn left on D26.

Parking: At the entrance of the village and in the village (town hall, muleteers’ relay), many free parking spaces are available.
