Cultural and natural heritage in Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, Ardèche
Opening : All year round, daily.
It was created in 2013 by Eleonore Cruse, a landscaper and specialist of ancient roses. On the outskirts of the priory, this magical place can be visited all year long but it will dazzle you the most during the spring with its 66 varieties of roses.
‘Roses are beautiful ephemerals, little marvels to be contemplated attentively, to be visited as bees do: each glance, each day, each season brings us an impalpable source of joy’ writes Eléonore Cruse, designer of this space and farmer.
Don’t hesitate to push open the gate, designed by local artist Joël Reynaud. Take a gentle stroll through the alleys and let yourself be carried away by the enchanting diversity of climbing and bushy roses. In the summer months, they offer you their roses to contemplate and breathe in. Relax for a moment… or as long as you like, on the benches, your eyes filled with the infinite shades of colour that surround you. The rose garden can be visited at any time of day. In the evening, discreet, carefully considered lighting enhances the scenography of the area, which combines plants and minerals to bring out the beauty of nature.
