12 years ago, we launched a multi-year cycle on the theme of travelling and discovering regions of the world. After Latin America in 2011, islands around the world in 2012, China and East Asia in 2013, the Indian world in 2014, Australia and New Caledonia in 2015, Central Asia in 2016, the Near and Middle East in 2017, the Far North in 2018, the United Kingdom in 2019, Africa in 2022 and the countries of Southern Europe last year, it will be the countries of Eastern Europe that will be in the spotlight in 2024.
Through the screening of documentary films in the presence of the directors, an exhibition of photographs taken by local travellers, discussions and personal accounts of some of these countries, the aim is to show, hear and discover from different angles: ethnological, artistic, environmental, societal...

Each screening will be followed by a discussion. Of course, the aim will not be to cover all these countries and situations in their entirety, but simply to provide different points of view and perspectives to encourage discussion.Through the screening of documentary films in the presence of the directors, an exhibition of photographs taken by local travellers and discussions and testimonies about some of these countries, the aim is to show, hear and discover from different angles: ethnological, artistic, environmental, societal, etc.

Documentary Film Month is part of the national operation "Documentary Film Month" proposed and coordinated by Images en Bibliothèques (an association serving image libraries), the main aim of which is to promote the film and audiovisual collections of media libraries.

This nationwide event is on a massive scale, bringing these fine films to a local, non-specialist audience, wherever there is a media library, including small towns in rural areas.
It has become the benchmark event for documentary cinema, giving visibility and wide distribution to this production.

At the media library, an exhibition of photographs by local people who have lived or spent time in Eastern European countries.
A whole collection of books, CDs and DVDs on these countries, thanks to the support of the Médiathèque départementale.
