The development of Thueyts began at the start of the second millennium around its priory, linked to the Saint Chaffre Abbey in Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, in the Haute-Loire. The village prospered from the Renaissance onwards, as evidenced by the remarkable architectural examples such as the Château de Blou, the Tour Pouget and several private mansions. Thueyts’ economic activities have evolved over the years, from trading to crafts, including arboriculture, silkworm rearing and the textile industry.
