Defending a Mountain
In the remote highlands of Montenegro, a shepherdess and her daughter proudly defend their mountain against the threat of it being turned into a NATO military training ground, rekindling memories of the violence that tore their family apart.
A documentary by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, which takes us to the remote highlands of Montenegro, in the heart of the Sinjajevina massif.
Through its portrait of these two generations of women, the film brings to light a more intimate story: that of the violence which has scarred their family, but also that of a relationship founded on care, solidarity and resistance.
Against the backdrop of Sinjajevina’s spectacular landscapes and the struggle of a mountain community, ‘Garder une montagne’ explores power dynamics, the role of women, the militarisation of territories and our connection to the natural world.
Biljana Tutorov will be in Jaujac to speak with the audience after the screening.
An evening to discover a sensitive and socially engaged documentary, but also to reflect on what it means to defend a mountain, a territory and a way of life.
