Discover "The small museum in Dédé" to know the history of the railway in southern Ardèche: railway objects, post and philately railway, model trains, model trains miniature ...
The son of railway workers, his passion for trains became a cause when, on 1 April 1988, the railway line connecting the Rhône Valley to the Cévennes region of Ardèche closed to all traffic. For eight years, under the banner of VIADUC 07, he and around a hundred volunteers succeeded in saving part of this railway heritage through a subscription scheme and in getting the Southern Ardèche Tourist Train back on track, while at the same time creating the European model railway festival in Aubenas.
You can discover texts and photos from the book ‘La fabuleuse histoire du chemin de fer en Ardèche méridionale’ (The Fabulous History of the Railway in Southern Ardèche), as well as unpublished documents, railway post and philately, model trains, models and a little nod to the Swiss railways, etc., but you can also have a chat with Dédé l'Ardéchois.
