Associations in Pont-de-Labeaume, Ardèche

Opening : From 01/01 to 31/12 daily.

In 1958, volunteers saved Notre-Dame de Nieigles from ruin. Thanks to their efforts, it was listed as a Historic Monument in 1975. Today, the association keeps this heritage alive with concerts and events.

A little history about Nieigles: Today, this 11th/12th-century Romanesque church is surrounded by magnificent scenery. However, in 993, it was just a priory founded by Guy d'Anjou, Bishop of Le Puy. The chapel was then enlarged in the 12th century. In the 13th century, Bernard de Ventadour, the lord of the manor, donated a statue of the Black Madonna to the church of Nieigles. Many architectural alterations were made from the 15th century onwards. After the separation of church and state in the 19th century, the parish of Pont de Labeaume was created and the church was abandoned. Thanks to the efforts of the association, major work has been carried out over several years to create a welcoming Romanesque church that is always open and leaves a lasting impression on visitors. We are currently working on a study to restore the interior paintings and a funerary litter discovered in November 2025. We will launch a fundraising programme as soon as we have all the details.
