On this donkey trekking trail, you’ll discover the natural beauty of the Ardèche mountains, where the hiking trails offer plenty of space for everyone.

4 days / 3 nights / 4 days of hiking with a donkey. Donkey hire for 4 days.
This donkey trail, starting from the Pré Lafont farm, will take you quickly to Sainte-Eulalie and the Loire. The route follows a path along the Loire, winding its way back up to the river’s source at the foot of Mont Gerbier de Jonc, one of the Ardèche’s exceptional and unmissable natural sites. Here, the cultural heritage is significant, with the beautiful farmhouses, some with thatched roofs and others with slate roofs. You will also discover a significant geological heritage, with numerous ancient volcanoes on the watershed and the GR®7 hiking trail.

Minimum 2 people.
Ages 6–8 and above.

Meeting point: 9am at the donkey hire centre ‘Les ânes de Farfara’. As we have a strict departure schedule, please be on time.

Accommodation:

In guesthouses and hotels, double or family rooms, or small dormitories for 6 to 12 people. Towels and bed linen provided.

Accommodation must be booked in advance and paid for by you. Here is the list of accommodation options along the route.

Don’t forget to mention that you’ll be arriving with a donkey. A designated area is provided for them; the accommodation provider will give you instructions on arrival.

What to bring
For hikers:

- Hiking boots
- Small rucksack for your personal belongings: documents, camera, phone, etc.
- Drinks & snacks
- Picnic
- Cap
- Sunglasses
- Rainwear
- Warm clothing (a small hat and a pair of gloves). Remember, we are in the mountains, so mornings and evenings can be chilly.
- Binoculars, if you have them


For luggage carried by donkeys:

- A soft, waterproof bag to put in the leather saddlebags.
- An additional waterproof tube-shaped bag or rucksack to carry extra items.


And a few carrots as treats for the donkeys. Avoid bread.
